I was honored to have represented the San Gabriel Valley in the State Assembly and to have served as Mayor and Council member of La Cañada Flintridge. Three years ago, I asked for your understanding when I chose to spend time with my mom rather than seek another elected office. In addition to spending time with mom, I was afforded significant quality time with my daughters. As you know, these important family opportunities disappear quickly as our children grow up way too fast.
I maintain my passion to serve our great foothill communities and I am looking forward to the campaign for the State Senate. I am honored that a growing list of outstanding elected officials representing the 25th Senate District, friends and neighbors have endorsed me. Joining the mayors and councilmembers are education leaders and community activists from across the district. Collectively, they have encouraged me and bring a strong grassroots network to aide our effort to win in November.
I embrace our community and the many organizations that make it special. As I have always done, I will work in collaboration to ensure positive change and discernible results. Together, we fought to make umbilical cord blood collection a priority for California, to bring hope for patients with leukemia; we brought HIV/AIDS education to countless young people; and we helped make it easier to diagnose people who are HIV positive. We expanded education opportunities, we fought and won the right to examine State Assembly spending practices, we took guns off main street California and we forced more transparency into the budgeting process. But frankly, there is much more to do, and with your help, I plan to do it.
I am a father of two great daughters with strong and long ties to our community and I will fight for the values we all hold dear – Education, Accountability and Equal Treatment for all Californians. Today, I ask for your consideration and your trust as we work together for a better California.
