Standing for our Foorhill Communities

“I’ll fight hard for the communities in the San Gabriel Valley. I was an early and consistent supporter of the Gold Line Light Rail, and I’ll work to reform Sacramento and make it work better for all of us.”

-Anthony Portantino

Anthony was an early and consistent supporter of the Gold Line light rail. He fought to include funding for the Gold Line Phase 2 and the Monrovia maintenance yard in Measure R. In the Senate, Anthony will continue to fight for the resources to complete the Gold Line to the Ontario Airport.

“We could always count on Anthony Portantino to be a champion for the Gold Line when was in Sacramento. He’s from the San Gabriel Valley and understands its importance to the economic and transportation vitality of our region.”

– Hon. Doug Tessitor, Chairman, Gold Line Construction Authority Former Mayor, Glendora

A former mayor, Anthony understands the vitality of the cities in the San Gabriel Valley. Anthony helped craft Proposition 1A, which protected millions of dollars of local government’s revenue from Sacramento raids.

“Anthony was a small-town mayor before he went to Sacramento. He has positive relationships with many of the city councils across our district and would be an outstanding choice for State Senate. We remember how he had our back and opposed raiding our revenue.”

–  Hon. Sam Pedroza Mayor, Claremont

Anthony is supported by an unprecedented number of community college trustees and school board members. He has close ties to and terrific support from education leaders from Citrus College and Pasadena City College (PCC). He was awarded an honorary degree from Glendale Community College and special recognitions from PCC and the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office for his dedication to community college students. He led efforts to expand access to financial aid and bring more high school students into community colleges.

“Anthony doesn’t just talk about education. He fights for it.”

–  Hon. Sue Keith, President, Citrus College Board of Trustees

Anthony will continue to be a champion for the Gold Line, initiate tax incentives for transit-oriented housing, and support our small community businesses. He will also work to stabilize and increase funding for our public schools. He will be an accessible and cooperative representative who will work in collaboration with our communities. Anthony is endorsed by the California Small Business Association and the California Labor Federation.

“Anthony Portantino has been a positive presence in the San Gabriel Valley for many years. He supported the Gold Line when it needed help the most, and, as a former mayor, he stood up for cities in Sacramento when many did not. I am very happy to support my friend Anthony Portantino for the State Senate.”

–  Rev. Karen Davis Councilmember, Glendora
