STANDING UP FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
As an educator and a public school parent, Anthony firmly believes we need to fully fund education in California. That’s why, when the great recession devastated our public schools, he stood up to his own party leaders and refused to vote for deeper cuts to education. He was severely punished, but Anthony never wavered in his support for our schools. He was also a leader in the fight to address the teacher shortage in California, because every student deserves a great teacher.
FIGHTING FOR AFFORDABLE COLLEGES
For many students, a college education is the ticket to a brighter future – and Anthony worked to put colleges within reach of our young people by increasing access to financial aid programs. In the Assembly, Anthony crated an MBA fellowship for Latino and African American students and protected students from predatory “for-profit” diploma mills. In the Senate, Anthony has a plan to once again make K-14 education free in California.
SUPPORTED BY EDUCATORS
California’s educators support Anthony because they know he supports our children and public schools. Anthony is honored to have received endorsements from local teachers, parents, school board members and college trustees. In the State Senate, Anthony will always stand up for education and protect our public schools.
SUPPORT AND IMPROVE OUR SCHOOLS
The father of two public school-educated children, a PTA member, and a school volunteer, Anthony has been a strong supporter of the BUSD. He was an early endorser and financial supporter of our local $150 million school bond Measure S and a longtime, consistent supporter and sponsor of Burbank Arts for All, where he doesn’t miss a Secret Art Show.
Anthony has also been a strong advocate for the Burbank Parents’ Cultural Group, PFLAG, and a frequent guest speaker at and supporter of the Burroughs High School JSA.
